Managing Attorney, The Ashmore Law Firm
Family Law, Divorce, Probate, Civil Litigation and Personal Injury Attorney
Strategic Advocacy. Practical Guidance. Trusted Results.
Gary Ashmore is the Managing Attorney at The Ashmore Law Firm and a senior Family Law attorney serving clients throughout Dallas Fort Worth. With more than 30 years of legal experience and licensure in Texas since 1995, Gary has dedicated the majority of his career to Family Law, helping individuals and families navigate divorce, child custody, and child support matters with clarity, discretion, and confidence.
Gary leads the firm’s Family Law division and sets the philosophy that guides the family law team. That philosophy is simple. Seek peaceful resolution whenever possible, but prepare every case as though it will be tried. This approach allows clients to pursue negotiated settlements from a position of strength while remaining fully prepared for litigation if cooperation breaks down.
As Managing Attorney, Gary oversees attorneys who focus on civil litigation and personal injury while keeping his own practice firmly centered on Family Law. This leadership role gives him a strong command of complex financial, property, and litigation issues that often surface in contested divorce and custody cases, allowing him to anticipate challenges and build proactive strategies for his clients.
Gary is consistently recognized as a Super Lawyer in Family Law. Under his leadership, The Ashmore Law Firm has been recognized as a Top 100 firm by the Dallas Bar Association, reinforcing the firm’s reputation for high caliber advocacy in Dallas. Gary also holds a 10.0 AVVO rating, has been named an AVVO Top Contributor, and has earned a Martindale Hubbell Preeminent rating, reflecting the highest levels of peer and professional recognition.
With extensive courtroom experience, Gary has represented clients in both jury trials and bench trials involving divorce and custody disputes. When privacy is a priority, he also offers the option of resolving matters through private judging, allowing cases to remain discrete and, when appropriate, sealed from public view. This option is especially valuable for professionals, business owners, and high asset families who require confidentiality.
While Gary strongly supports negotiated resolutions and collaborative processes when appropriate, he is equally prepared to pursue aggressive litigation when a client’s rights, children, or financial security are at risk. His calm but firm approach allows clients to move forward with confidence, knowing their case is handled with preparation, discipline, and resolve.
Gary works alongside his sister, Lori Ashmore Peters, a Super Lawyer in Estate Planning for more than 20 years, ensuring seamless coordination when family law matters intersect with estate or probate concerns.
